In 1998, two local cycling clubs Dartford Wheelers and West Kent Road Club united to create a new youth cycling club. The aim of this new club was to foster interest and competition in cycling for individuals aged five to sixteen. Over the years, this mission has evolved to better serve our members. Today, our club has approximately 60 members ranging in age from 5 to 88 years.
Over the past 27 years Team Darenth has grown into a successful youth cycling club with a growing adult membership. The adult side of the club includes both racers and recreation riders.
Team Darenth is a British cycling-affiliated club and Go-ride registered. Team Darenth is also “Clubmark” accredited with Sport England.
Today our mission is to:
“To promote and develop cycling for youths, and adults. Whether they want to ride for fun, or race competitively, this will be done by promoting an inclusive club that welcomes everyone interested in Cycling..”
Team Darenth primarily focuses on youth cycling, we have around 40 young members ranging from 5 to 17 years of age. For our youth members we offer Saturday morning sessions for youth riders that include a mix of coached activities and free riding. Our coaching sessions cover essential cycling skills, mountain biking (MTB) techniques, fitness training, and race preparation for MTB and cyclo-cross. During the summer months, we also run the Team Darneth Challenge.
For adults, we organize rides and sessions on Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings, with additional Sunday morning and weekday rides arranged based on availability. Tuesday evening sessions typically feature MTB training when there’s enough daylight, while turbo sessions are held throughout the rest of the year.
At Team Darenth, we are proud to have a dedicated coaching team comprising 10 coaches and rider leaders. This team brings a vast array of cycling experience, including racing in MTB, Cyclo-cross, and BMX.

Whether you’re interested in racing or simply riding for enjoyment, Team Darenth has something for everyone!
